Everyday Wellness Tips
Sleep Posture
Proper sleep posture results in better quality of sleep. For proper sleep position use a pillow between the knees to align the hips, a pillow under the side to support and align the spine, as well as an appropriate sized pillow for the head to support the neck.
Standing Posture
Benefits of standing posture include pain prevention, increased mobility, and increased self-esteem. For proper standing posture correction, ensure your knees are slightly bent and keep pelvis neutral while pulling in your abdomen. Stand with chest out and shoulders back, along with having ears aligned with shoulders. Keep chin tucked in.
Sitting Posture
Proper sitting posture benefits include pain prevention, increased energy levels, and neck and upper body support. To engage in proper sitting posture, keep feet flat on the floor with ankles in front of knees. Lower back should be curved and supported with towel or pillow. Lastly, keep shoulders relaxed.
Deep Breathing
Deep breathing also known as Diaphragmatic breathing, is important as it allows for more air flow into your body. It reduces stress and anxiety, along with improving attention. To start deep breathing, first get in a comfortable position and relax the shoulders. Breathe in through the nose and exhale through the mouth. When inhaling, make sure you are breathing into your abdomen, it should expand, and while exhaling make sure it is slow and controlled.
